Austin Kink Weekend 2026: April 16-19, 2026

These aren't pageant titles. They're working positions — a year of visibility, service, and representing the soul of this community on a national stage. Each titleholder carries the weight of Texas leather culture into rooms where it matters: International Mister Leather, International Ms. Leather, and events across the country where our community shows up to be counted.

The Three Titles

Mr. Texas Leather — 850 total points. Built around confidence and leather aesthetic. Mr. Texas Leather is scored across eight categories including three on-stage presentation rounds: Formal Leather, Pecs & Personality (sexy wear), and Bar Wear — each worth 100 points. The winner represents Texas at International Mister Leather (IML) in Chicago. This is the same stage that produced Stephen Weber (IML 2002) and Jeffrey Payne (IML 2009), both as Mr. Texas Leather.

Ms. Texas Leather — 950 total points. Storytelling takes center stage. Ms. Texas Leather features a 200-point Fantasy Scene — the highest-weighted presentation category in any of the three leather contests. Contestants get the full stage, up to three minutes, and unlimited scene partners to craft a performance that showcases their vision of leather. The winner represents Texas at International Ms. Leather (IMsL) — where Synn (2012) and The Goddess Indigo (2024) both won as Ms. Texas Leather.

Mx. Texas Leather — 850 total points. The gender-neutral and expansive title. Mx. contestants choose between a Fantasy Performance or Sexy Wear category, shaping the contest to match their expression. This title exists because leather has always been bigger than binary — and Texas should reflect that. The winner represents Texas at an international leather contest following their step-down.

Shared Contest Categories

All three leather title contests share a core set of scored categories and use Olympic Scoring — the highest and lowest judge scores in each category are dropped:

  • Judges' Interview — 200 points. A private, 15-minute sit-down with the judging panel. Questions cover community involvement, leather history, personal experience, and your vision for the title. You'll also be scored on your Bar Wear attire during the interview. The highest-weighted category across all three contests.
  • Speech — 100 points. A 90-second memorized speech on stage in your formal leather. Your chance to connect with the audience and articulate what this title means to you. Points deducted after two minutes.
  • Formal Leather — 100 points. Scored alongside your speech. Judges evaluate your overall appearance in full leather — how it fits, your attitude, and your presence.
  • Pop Question — 100 points. A live, on-stage question drawn at random. You'll have 60 seconds to answer. Judges score confidence, crowd interaction, and personality — not just correctness.
  • Bar Wear — 100 points. What you'd actually wear to a leather night. This is about your personal aesthetic and how naturally you carry it.
  • Lifestyle Image — 100 points. Scored throughout the entire weekend. How you engage with attendees, guests, and volunteers when the stage lights are off.
  • Application — 50 points. Your written application is scored for thoughtfulness and thoroughness.

What Sets Each Title Apart

Beyond the shared categories, each title has its own stage presence round:

  • Mr. Texas Leather adds Pecs & Personality (100 points) — not a body contest. This is about how comfortable and confident you are in your skin. Wear your favorite jock or sexy wear and own the stage.
  • Ms. Texas Leather adds Fantasy Scene (200 points) — a full theatrical performance. Use the entire stage, bring scene partners and props, provide your own soundtrack. Up to three minutes to tell your story.
  • Mx. Texas Leather adds Fantasy OR Sexy Wear (100 points) — contestant's choice. Pick the format that fits your expression and inform the producer before the contest.

What Winning Means

All three titleholders commit to the same core expectations:

  • A minimum of six public appearances at leather, fetish, or LGBTQ+ events across Texas during the title year
  • At least one charitable event or fundraiser benefiting the leather, kink, or LGBTQ+ community
  • Attendance, assistance, and promotion of the next Austin Kink Weekend and Texas Leather contests
  • International contest representation — IML for Mr., IMsL for Ms., and a designated international leather contest for Mx.
  • Maintaining good standing in the community with integrity

Who Can Apply

All three contests are open to LGBTQ+ individuals who are 21 or older as of April 1, 2026 and permanent residents of Texas.
